Nintendo cant afford taking risks!? :D

Nintendo constantly risking, Virtual Boy, DS, Wii (dont forget that Wii come out after worst selling Nintendo console in that time and it was also quite big risk), 3DS, WiiU and now Switch (puting all eggs in one basket is definatly risk), are all risks, Nintendo is regularly risking with their concepts, ideas and hardwares. Sony or MS for comparison dont risk at all, they have constantly regular consoles.

i don't see any of those as big risks except for VB. wii came out because GC failed, simply releasing upgraded console like sony wasn't working for them, if wii failed nintendo would have quit home consoles right then and there. switch wasn't a risk at all, its a powerful handheld which is there bread and butter market, that can also be a weak home console, i don't see how that is a risk.

Offcourse you dont. But in reality VB was huge risk, DS with Dual Touch screen handheld compared to prevous handhelds is also huge risk, upgraded GC with motion controls after worst selling Nintendo console also huge risk (it could easily failed and Nintend wold have two fails in a row), actualy only 3DS isnt big risk beacuse its just 3D version of very popular DS, Wii U with tablet like controler big risk, Switch where Nintendo putting all their eggs in one basket is also risk (it had quite strong price for handheld, and high price point is reason why 3DS needed huge price cut in order to start selling, espacily beacuse it come out after worst selling Nintendo console ever).
