OP's first point is pretty flawed. The Gameboy came out when the NES was Nintendo's flagship console, so why is her comparing it to the features Super Nintendo instead of the NES?

Also: Vita feels like just as much of a home console as the Switch does to be honest, which is to say, it's very clearly a portable first and foremost, with home console functionality considered secondary. The fact that it can act as a pass-through with the PS3 with the PS4, including using the rear touch pad as shoulder buttons should make that pretty clear. But you're right, with a couple of different design changes (removing proprietary memory cards, removing rear touch pad in favor of another pair of shoulder buttons, making the thumb sticks clickable) it would have been far more successful than it ever was. I still don't know why they didn't include the HDMI port they had on the dev kits in the retail units. That alone would have done it a bunch of favors.
