The Switch is compromised but the feeling is that the compromised can be well overlooked now in comparison to previous handheld consoles.

That said I would argue that the biggest compromises for PSP, and more profoundly for the PSV, were the games. Nintendo have mastered handheld gaming (you can even see some elements of handheld gaming introduced in Odyssey and BoTW despite their expansiveness).

And yeah the Switch is weaker than this gen but it's understandable unlike previous consoles and I think the reaction to the Switch the past year is a testament to that and Nintendo's ability to create unique gaming experiences. It will be interesting to see if third parties will shoulder the burden of a lighter release schedule from first party titles as I think the novelty of home console ports on a hand held will not be enough to keep the strong momentum going.

That said, Pokemon Switch will be massive on its own right.
