Was it though? Analogue sticks weren't forced on us. Sony released a DS with dual analogue sticks for the PS1 as an alternative to the original analogue-less controller. It became standard from there, but if nobody had bought the analogue version then it wouldn't have become standard, ie. it was a choice. Motion controls? Nah, the PS Move was an optional extra, nothing forced about that. The DS3 did have some kind of motion control but Killzone 2 is literally the only game I remember it being used in and people weren't forced to buy that game, and without it you wouldn't even notice it was there. The touch pad? Fair enough, but the rest of the controller works the same and there's no additional cost so it's hard to consider it "forced upon people" when it's completely possible to ignore it and forget it's even there. Online multiplayer? Nope, that's definitely not forced on people, it's even something you have to pay extra for these days so it's quite easy to avoid if you don't want it. You could have just said you want Sony to go bankrupt though, that would have shortened all this considerably. And bundling expensive shit that most people don't want to a console is a great way to have a huge failure on your hands which may well lead to bankruptcy for Sony... |
Hold on, hold on.Dont take this personal, nor dont make this into some sort of console war.Im not against Sony or anything, nor in favour to Nintendo.I used PSVR only as an example. The things I said about innovation applies to all three, and it dosent have to be VR.It could be AR, could be hologram or simply more buttons on the controller.
As for all the examples you just gave, you understood what I meant.About the motion control, I didnt mean PS Move, but rather the dualshock itself, since it has a gyrometer inside, even if its not used. And the DS4 also has one inside, you know. And again, this is a critique to all companies, not just Sony.Relax, your company of choice is safe.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.
