Is PS3 REALLY selling that badly?

It did sell pretty bad,compared to what could have been expected.

Is the PS3 expensive ? Yes

Does the PS3 lack games ? Well... not exactly. Looking at what currently available : Resistance, Motorostorm, Oblivion, R6 Vegas, Fight Night R3, Ninja Gaiden, The Darkness, VF5, VT3, RR7... After 6 months or so, that's better than what most consoles ever had. So the PS3 rather lack good exclusives.

But one main point many people seem to forget : Sony started with a customer base of aver 100 millions players. MS and Nintendo started with a customer base of roughtly 20 millions players.

Considering this, despite the price and lack of exclusivity, the PS3 should be doing a lot better.


The most obvious proof of that comes from publishers. Just look at all the games that were PS3 exclusive and are now on X360 too.

I mean, back at E3 05 or 06, when those games where announced as PS3 exclusives, projects were already work in progress. Publishers already knew development will cost them around 15 millions $. Studios already knew the cell was hard to master.
So what has changed since ? Not the cost, not the cell. Just the fact that PS3 is selling a lot less than expected.
