- Those mandatory installs are there for a reason. Running games off a HDD is infinitely faster than pulling data off a disc. An 8x Bluray drive has a speed of aroind 32MB/s. Vs a run off the mill 5200rpm mechanical HDD which will allow at least 150MB/s speeds. Lets not even mention SSDs. Think of it this way, remember the last time yoi looked at a load screen for say 30 secs? If they were not doomg mandatory installs that load screen will take 3mins.
