Sun and Moon didn’t perform as well as other Pokémon games in japan. X&Y were the first global release. And you’re forgetting the difference in install base between the DS and 3DS. The 3ds games had a much bigger attachrate. 3ds games sold more on a smaller install signalling growth in the franchise. Pokémon switch will be a monster because the switch itself has higher software attchrate than any Nintendo console plus Pokémon as a franchise is continuing to grow on top of the fact that this is the first console hd Pokémon game. A lot of people have been asking for this since forever. |
.........You really do not need to reply to me if you're just going to restate the same things. Again, none of this refutes what I'm saying. I am not saying :
-The Switch is not a contributing factor to franchise growth
-That the sales on a smaller install base aren't impressive
What I AM saying is that an article detailing something being the fastest selling thing ever in a franchise is NOT proof that it's automatically going to have "monster" sales in comparison to past games in the franchise. We have a track record proving this, pretty consistently. Still, I do think that Pokemon Switch will sell incredibly well. Probably around 18 million which is 2-3 million above average Pokemon. That could indeed be considered a "monster", I'm just not going to call it that the moment an article comes out about how fast it is selling ... (and also I believe that if Sun/Moon wasn't replaced by Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon ... they probably would have came close to the 17M + barrier anyways, possibly even reaching 18M)
