Since this is a sales thread about Germany, we do not only have to account for Nintendo handhelds, but also PlayStation home consoles as potential competitors for the title of best-selling console through the first twelve months. |

The highlighted portion means as much as "Wii held the record of the best-selling Nintendo home console through the first twelve months." That's the record Switch has broken. It's similar wording to Nintendo of America's press release that called Switch the best-selling home gaming system in the USA through the first ten months. NoA's wording deliberately excluded Nintendo handhelds because the GBA is the overall record holder in the USA through the specified timeframe. |

In Germany Switch sold better than any other Nintendo home console through the first twelve months, but its overall position is unknown because public German sales data is so hard to come by. |
You are wrong, Switch is Nintendos fastest system (including home consoles and handhelds) ever in Germany for first year, previous record was held buy Wii and Switch beat Wii. DS actually had slower start than Wii.
