If I'm not mistaken it cost less chunks  to spread one sub ability across 3 pcs of gear (30 chunks needed total) and has the same effect as making one piece of perfect gear (60 chunks needed) that is assuming of course you aren't getting some of the sub-ability you want by leveling the gear or re-rolling it.

 

If doing all three sub slots the same sub-ability:

1st sub-ability 10 chunks

2nd sub-ability 20 chunks

3rd sub-ability 30 chunks

grand total of 60 chunks

But having perfect gear is much better than having the subs split among different sets of gear, as it requires you to equip all 3, rather than having everything specific to 1

My plan is to roll for a double sub and use 30 chunks to fill in the last slot
