Then don't, nobody is forcing them to use an inferior method. Those who opt out of gyro do so of their own volition, they're gimping themselves by choice.

Sure, but they kind of did force them to use an inferior method by not giving them a choice to begin with. Like I said previously, there's a simple solution to that problem. If you're all for choice, then give people who prefer classic controls a choice to play against players who use superior method, or not.

I'm sorry, but that's sort of like saying people who prefer 90's fps-control schemes to twin sticks should be seperated out, because they can't get used to the superior method. New and superior control methods will naturally become available, as technology develops.

The simple 4-6 button+d-pad controls became insufficient when technology allowed games to move into a 3D space and new control schemes had to be developed to account for that. Add to that, that it will usually take a while to find the perfect use for any new technology and you get gyro-aiming.

The Wii-Era was so pre-occupied with making everything motion-based that it didn't get to use gyro in a more iterative way. It took the WiiU, with it's non-motion based second screen-gimmik (wich I maintain was brilliant for keeping map and inventory systems available on the fly), to really show the technologys potential in conjunction with a more traditional control-scheme and it's great.

Console control schemes are highly refined nowadays, so getting used to a new feature might be a little alien to people by now, but back in the day every console came with new controller features. People had to get used to new things all the time.
