What WILL they do? Probably exactly the opposite of that and pull another PS4/Xbox One where it's basically a PS4 Pro 1.5. They'll try and tell us it's next generation because the OS is "snappier" or how great it is at uploading video streams that only 1% will actually be able to monetize to any useful degree.

The only time Nintendo ever sold their consoles at a loss were the Wii U and post pricecut 3DS.... Sony did eat some cost on the PS1 and PS2, and they ate an enormous cost on the PS3, which contributed to almost bankrupting them.... Yeah, somehow I don't think that's a good idea. You'd kill the industry.

Had the industry NOT done what I said, it wouldn't even have MADE it to PS3 because that's how it operated from Atari 2600 to then.
