That would be understandable if every other company wasn't already doing it and given the business opportunity a PS3 version would provide it was a dumb decision to not invest in optimising for the cell.

Even in 2009 a lot of devs were still struggling with the PS3; multiplats tended to be worse, and Platinum not only had no PS3 experience, but no HD experience at all. They passed on developing the PS3 version themselves specifically because they didn't think they could do a good enough job of it; it was Sega who ended up handling the botched PS3 port.
