Platinum should have known better than to not develop Bayonetta on a system that houses the best selling hack and slash series. Xbox gamers have no history with hack and slash games outside Ninja Gaiden which wasn't that popular. PlayStation gamers have always been the biggest fanbase for hack and slash games with God of War and Devil May Cry. Not to mention Bayonetta's aesthetics are Japanese which don't do well on Xbox either. Kamiya lacks business sense.

I suspect they led on 360 because it was their first HD game and the 360 offered a friendlier development environment compared to the notoriously complex PS3.

That would be understandable if every other company wasn't already doing it and given the business opportunity a PS3 version would provide it was a dumb decision to not invest in optimising for the cell.
