Where as Iron Man 2 was constantly going back in forth in its quality, Iron Man 3 generally stays solid until it gets way too silly at the end. For a movie coming off of the Avengers the film as actually pretty down to earth for a good chunk of it, and those scenes where Tony Stark doesn't have his suit are the strongest bits of the movie. I actually liked the Mandarin twist unlike everyone else, I don't care that it didn't line up with the comics. In this movie it fit the style they were going for and was much more interesting than the generic bores most MCU villains are, but the person who actually ends up being the main villain is simply awful, his motivation and that entire final scene tank what is otherwise a solid character piece.
