I was just on the Xenoblade subbreddit and some made a great point about this

The revelation that Alvis is actually a blade, puts a lot into perspective the fact that in Xenoblade 1 no one else could of wield the Mondao and it almost killed Dunban and cost him the use of one of his arms. As was soon in this game not everyone could become a driver.

I didn’t really think about that, but that’s a good point. I think it’s better clear that Alvis is the 3rd Aegis, and the Monado was an Aegis blade all along. It also explains why Malos used the/a Monado when his powers returned. Kinda curious why Pyra/Mythra/Pneuma never had their blade referred to as a Monado, but Mythra’s ability is enough evidence for me to say the idea is the same.

Also kudos on thinking about important plot stuff during the credits. I was dead inside at that point. Playing “My Last Day with You” didn’t help either.
