Okay that is a good question. You see I just looked at Nlointendo console sales and with exception of the Wii, their sales have never been giant. I predict that the mobile nature of the Switch (competing at consoles) at a 300 price will make it sell less than the 3DS. I asaying here that price matters and their history leads me to think that 65 million is a sweet spot. |
Sure if it remains at $300 for the rest of its life but what are the odds of that?
3DS started at $250 but the entry model is now $80.
Wii started at $250 and was $100 when it stopped selling.
PS4 started at $400 and will be $200 in the next year or two.
Most consoles/handhelds end their run at or less than half their launch price so your reasoning doesnt make a whole lot of sense.
Switch will get multiple price cuts and revisions over the next 5-6 years.
