A lot of the gobal developments are set in stone regardless of what the US president does. Clean energy will take over. China will surpass the US in GDP, eventually maybe even in cultural influence (although we are becoming increasingly more culturally homogenous as a whole, so it won't be as apparent).
Politics will, by and large, not make the world change course as a whole. Politics can push and tug somewhat in differing directions, and accelerate or slow down development, for a while, but a lot of things will eventually happen because they're the nigh inevitable development.
