I would really prefer if steam remains free from the other big names.
most people that have a gameing pc, run steam anyways, weither its called windows store, and shipped inside windows or not.

I could see MS wrecking steam, not long after they got it.

How would MS wreck Steam? They didn't wreck Minecraft when they brought them, they actually did wonders for Minecraft bringing in Cross Play and bringing it to other consoles like Nintendo. If anything it will convince MS to drop there Windows Store and use Steam as there main weapons against there main Competitors like Apple.

Windows and Steam is the perfect combo for each other, having full control can grant benefits. It would be the best decision to move Windows.

You see the benefits as a Microsoft fan, but I doubt even Gabe Newell would be so happy with Microsoft touching his product. That...and well..Microsoft should never be trusted to be a monopoly anywhere. That would mean they have a monopoly over not over the OS market, but the PC gaming market. Sony and Nintendo would be the last true bastion of traditional gaming as we knew it. Microsoft no real direction for anything, which is why they are having an exclusives problem. Wanting to get their subscriptions and application based ventures out there isnt enough. Buying EA would be almost as bad because this would prove just how desperate they would have to be just to compete. The primary way Microsoft has been able to fight back against Sony was to buy other peoples games. This sets a very bad and low standard for how one competes if true. Hopefully its not and Microsoft proves themselves to gamers, but man...theres been too much disappointment. I hope they just buy a fleet of devs, restructure and go after Sony next gen.
