I can understand why Sakurai would feel that way as a creator. As a business, it's actually the same reason why a lot of the story-driven games are dying out. Most people would rather watch them on YouTube and never buy them. There are exceptions, like huge studios like Naughty Dog, but for others, it's better to follow the multiplayer/games-as-a-service cash train. That's why Atlus restricted streamers from showing Persona 5 beyond a certain point. And, as mad as the Internet was, they didn't really budge on it and I doubt it negatively affected sales.

Yeah, I know I've been guilty of that a few times, which is why I understand why Nintendo does it, and I don't really fault them for it.

I don't fault or defend either side. Both are in it for the money. YouTubers who do it because they love what they do wouldn't care if a few videos get claimed. Nintendo is a company, and being greedy is what companies do. Not defending it. Just acknowledging that's how the world is.
