I couldn't remember how people reacted about PS4'S first year, but the difference is that the Wii U only sold less than 14million, while the PS3 have sold over 80million.
In my opinion it makes more sense for Nintendo to port Wii U games. And it also allows us to play those Wii U games and 3rd party games on the go like never before. Obviously Nintendo and third party devs sees this as a good opportunity to port games.
