I remember playing a VR game in the 90s and it was FP. I had a gun and shot things. I could pick some stuff up and throw it. Modern VR has better graphics and tech but there is a lot out there that outside of better visuals but still poor isn't a whole lot different from what I wore on my head in 1995 vs 2017. VR does have more variety to it now overall but a lot of these FP games are hey look at the things I can pick up and shoot and throw in often (again not always) very basic 3D graphics..almost like a cheap Steam game. The games that offer more variety and good fidelity visuals seem few are far between. VR just seems like the Wii in many ways. Promising concept but ultimately limited in what you can make for it and most devs release shovelware.
Games not in FP are just 3D(like Lucky's Tale), not VR. So just better looking 3DS games and I never use the 3D on 3DS. At least it's not red and black Game Boy games.

I will lastly say this. The thing I laugh at most when people say VR is the future. VR has been "the future" for over 30 years and it's always been niche. It always will be as long as it's pricey, makes people sick and requires a bulky headset to make you sweat and a large space to move around in. (not so great for us APT dwellers, one reason Kinect failed)
