I disagree, look at Pokemon GO, AR has near as much possibilities as VR and I think will also be where PC games like god games, rts, 4x and table top simulators go even down to the humble solitaire. As I said in a post above that one depends on creativity far more and less on already established game genres, both are exciting and AR is sure to have more mass appeal but is further down the road, atm.

In fairness, most people turn off the AR on Pokemon GO, mostly because it makes Pokemon harder to catch. Not the best example.
