The Marvelous Marvel Rewatch (Now Playing: Avengers: Infinity War)

Just watched Thor, and here are my thoughts.  As always, there are plenty of spoilers below, so don't read if you haven't seen the movie yet.

 

Plusses:

Loki is a very interesting villain, and the story arc between him, Thor and Odin is the most interesting part of the movie.

The Destroyer is kinda badass.

The opening scene showing Asgard is extremely well done.  It looks both beautiful and alien at the same time.

This movie avoided doing anything that outright annoyed me a lot unlike say, Hulk or Iron Man 2.

 

Minuses:

I was actually a little irritated by SHIELD.  They are ok, but they kind of came across as the unintentional villains in the middle while insisting they were the good guys.  This wasn't terrible, but not as interesting as Loki.

This movie doesn't do anything exceptionally well.  Nothing really stood out.  The movie is always good but never great.  Loki and the overall plot on Asgard is more interesting than the Earth plot.  However, Thor himself is more interesting when on Earth.  Seeing Thor powerless and all that entails is cool, but it doesn't really go anywhere exciting.  On the other hand, Asgard is kind of too serious to be interesting overall except for Loki.



Overall, the movie Thor avoided serious flaws and I enjoyed watching it, but it didn't really have any huge standout parts that stayed with me like a great film would have.
