I can believe that Nintendo are planning another Direct soon and that Nintendo are also planning peripheral driven games that are intended to reach a more family orientated or 'casual audience. The first is common sense and the second is a matter of public record - Kimishima has repeatedly stated that Nintendo will introduce new ways to play in 2018.

Whether these rumours have any truth to them I don't know. Personally I don't think Nintendo will be well-served by using a Direct to show a peripheral driven 'touch' generations style game. As soon as there's a whiff of a Direct fan expectations go into overdrive, and it's inevitably the traditional gaming industry and Nintendo's core fans who are waiting on the Direct to happen. Neither of those audiences will have much interest in a peripheral driven casual game. That's not to say that game won't be any good, simply to say Nintendo would be directing (heh, no pun intended) the message to the wrong audience. A simple Youtube video showing the peripheral concept and the game (with the lifestyle vibe of the original Switch trailer) would likely be far more effective.
