Xperia devices and Bravia are brands developed with Sonys R&D cash, and labeled with the Sony name, but they run on Google OS and Google Play Store. Sony basically works as a non profit organization for Google the way these two divisions are ran.

You are absolutely right about Sony's power struggle leading to their stumblings. They have lost a massive amount of mind share due to every unit fighting against each other, and making Sony products the least coheasive in the industry. That is why as a stock holder I want to see Kaz bring everything under SIE, and unify their product offerings. Having a standard and seemless itegration across Televisions, Recievers, Consoles, Tablets, Phones, Handhelds, Audio Decks, Watches, and other devices will be a major next ship in continuing their upward trend.

I see a lot of people saying Sony is not big enough to handle VR, Home, Mobile, and Auto. In reality, Sony actually has more man power than Google or Apple. They have the resources, they are just very poorly utilized. With good leadership they should beable to get all of their divisions working together eliminating waste, and redundancy, allowing them to build a better ecosystem.

Merging their Mobile team in with SIE, and building a PS4 Switch/Portable/Phone would be a major step forward for them. With SIE on its way to racking in the majority of the profits for the company, they should get the reigns. Hopefully Kaz has the back bone to cut all the crap, and finally put all the pieces together. There is no company with a more impressive portfolio than Sony. If they can connect all the peices, they will have an absolute beast of an ecosystem.
