Their all selling now.... at the same time... they all belong to the same generation (this time periode).
Switch will spend most of its life, selling against the PS4/XB1.... its in the same gen of consoles as them.

Switch is a 9th gen system and that's a simple fact. A console's gen is determined by the timing of it's own release. Wii u opened the 8th gen, switch replaced it 4 years later = new gen.

And by your logic, what if the x360 released in 2005 and no other console released untill 2008+? would that magically make the 360 a 6th gen? Hell no, it was a 7th gen as soon as it released.
