I fully believe Fall/Winter 2018 is when Nintendo will announce their Paid Online Service coming alongside at least one or two "big" multiplayer games. Be that GTA, Smash Bros, Animal Crossing, etc. just something to tie into why someone should pay for online. Right now many are past the point of caring for the online service enough to pay for it for Splatoon2 or MK8DX and the only people that would pay for it would be if VC is tied into it somehow.
We only know about games slated coming through June. Nothing in July-December with definite release dates and just a couple with general 2018 release windows.
Fire Emblem was stated to come in 2018 I believe, and doubt that changes. I believe Yoshi was 2018 as well. Nintendo is likely saving some big titles for Fall-Winter as that's when big titles usually come out anyways.
