It could be one of their closest in time frames from announcement to release.
The March 3, 2016 direct took 16 hours from announce to release.
This one, it seems that Nintendo knows that we know that Nintendo knows that we know that the Nintendo Direct is supposed to be tomorrow based on leaks from EA that detailed a Jan direct and other places around the web that have all stated a Jan 11th Direct theory. Including people on Resetera with a mod backer. So maybe they are playing with our emotions on this one.
