In terms of economic performance and brand awareness (especially after the relative catastrophe of WiiU), it's certainly up there.
In terms of games, it's also a strong contender.
I'd still say 1998, which had, for me, so many outstanding titles:
- Ocarina of Time
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Tetris DX
- 1080 Snowboarding
- MLB Featuring Ken Griffey Jr.
- Body Harvest
- F-Zero X
- WCW vs. nWo: Revenge
- Turok 2
- Rogue Squadron
- Link's Awakening DX
I've yet to play a bunch of Switch and 3DS titles from this year, however, so my opinion could certainly change!
