It's certainly up there.
When I think of great years for Nintendo, I think of the following:
1996:
- Nintendo 64 launch
- Super Mario 64,
- Mario Kart 64
- Wave Race 64
- The SNES still had decent support with games like DKC 3, Super Mario RPG, and Kirby Super Star.
- The Birth and Rise of Pokemon.
1998:
- Pokemon comes to the United States for the first time.
- Banjo-Kazooie
- Mario Party
- Star Wars: Rogue Squadron
- F-Zero X
- The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
2001/2002:
- Launch and First Years for the Game Boy Advance and GameCube.
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Luigi's Mansion
- Animal Crossing
- Pikmin
- GoldenSun
- Super Mario Sunshine
- Metroid Prime
- Sonic Adventure 2: Battle
- Sonic Advance
2006/2007:
- Launch of the Wii and the DS at its peak.
- New Super Mario Bros.
- Mario Party DS
- Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
- The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
- Metroid Prime 3
- Wii Sports
- Super Paper Mario
- Super Mario Galaxy
It's very hard for me to put 2017 above those years, because they were so damn good. But, 2017 was certainly the greatest turnaround in that company's history.
