Pretty much have to agree with this. Most people don't understand science, but they appreciate its contribution to the civilization we live in. Whereas the majority of religious people think they know some sort of divine truth, which is quite dangerous.
Science has a given set of rules to ensure it remains as objective and progressive as possible; religion has specific rules to forbid the latter and is open to so many different interpretations that the former becomes impossible and religion as a tool becomes way too easy to abuse (look at the all the crazy sects and cults that have sprung up across the globe over the millennia and all the mad things done in the name of god, especially in large groups).
