I'm confused how people can even see any sort of trend for Switch, and how it makes predicting any trend near impossible. The "record breaking 10 month sales" also probably had a near perfect setup:
- The Switch had ~900k units in March in the US.
- Up to the two holiday months, the switch was signficantly supply constraint, selling only 200-300k per month (or less)
- This supply constraint is very well capable of creating above average demand on the Switch.
- Now come the two holiday months, with actual enough Switch units available to be sold, resulting in the record breaking numbers
- These "fastest selling console ever" can be used quite well to keep the demand (artificial) higher.
There is absolutely no way to predict long term Switch sales from the current numbers. There's absolutely no way to properly determine the actual demand of the console, as it has been seriously supply constraint for most of the year.
You have to look at January/February/March numbers to predict how the Switch will go from it's first 10 months.
