It was oversold towards the beginning. It seemed like an amazing console with huge potential for some great Nintendo, and while it got quite a few, the majority of its library was third party shovelware titles that were strictly aimed at casuals. Outside of SMO2 and Skyward Sword, the console really did lose its magic after 2008.
I guess I can’t really complain though; it was because of the Wii’s shortcomings that I transitioned to being an almost exclusively Playstation gamer. I’ve been pretty satisfied with that choice ever since.
