The PS1 was an anomaly for its time. Didn't mean the 64 sold "little".

Next, so your suggesting that the Switch is also a "fad", since it, too, isn't a "traditional console". How do those sell, exactly?

nope switch is not a fad. its built on concept that has sold for many generations, console and handheld gaming combined. motion controls were a fad, wii and kinect were fads, and can't even sell 2 million consoles anymore based on those motion controlled games that were driving insane sales. i don't see how ps1 was anomaly, it's what people wanted and it's successor sold way more.
