But... But... The upset fans are an extremely small minority and the returns are in line with what Disney expected. Mhmm. So, why the need to please such a small number if everything is going great. And I have never seen a director plead for people to watch the movie in the 3RD weekend with such a poor excuse. Reeks of desperation.

And it makes no sense because in that extra time ANH did another $90M in the US. Saying it did even more WW with that extra time just proves my point, not yours. Lol.  Don't get me wrong, I 100% expect ESB would have still been down, even if they both got the same time at the BO. But, it would have been more like 10%-13%. Unfortunately for ESB, it launched at a time when the whole industry was starting to change towards bigger openings and having less time in theaters. TLJ has no excuse for being this far down, except it was a disappointing/mediocre movie that many fans refused to see, again, or at all.

Times change bud, while his actions might be suspicious they aren’t fact.  Keep that in mind.

You never said domestically,  or Im half blind, or full blind. Also ROTJ outperformed ESB WW. But I don’t have sources to verify your arguments.

also how on earth does that prove your point lol?  At least you then admit I was right in the next sentence. I edited my last post but I will reiterate, you admitted to it being down 80 million opening weekend, that’s 15% less.  Proving it was not as hyped.  Despite the backlash it still has already outperformed Rogue One.  Not to mention that overall ticket sales are much lower this year than the last few years.  This is due to things like ticket prices, television quality rising, people getting tired of sequels and remakes etc.   Now it will probably end up being anywhere from 30-40% less than TFA, which considering where it started is about where it should be imho.  If it was better it would have done better sure, but no where near as much as TFA.

I try not to live with blinders on. His actions speak louder than words.

So, I have BOM to back me up that ESB did better WW. Where's your data being pulled from?

Outperformed RO? Oh my God, a main entry in the largest film franchise in history beat one of the spin off movies? Call the press. And you think a movie that started only 15% down should fall to possibly being 35%-40%. Something is very off there. And I would bet your original prediction changed, since most people early on thought it would easily hit $1.5B.

Also, don't give me those BS excuses. It's only been 2 years since TFA released and nothing major has changed, or even started changing, as was the case with ESB. TV and streaming are about as big. They haven't grown to immense proportions compared to  2015. Ticket prices have only risen 6% in those 2 years, where they increased by 17% between ANH and ESB. So, that excuse works more for ESB, not TLJ. And all those sequels and remakes you talk about people hating, are some of the best performers of late. If they are GOOD. We have Thor 3 that just came out that has already performed ~31% better than its predecessor, and still has a few weeks to go. Jumanji 2 just hit theaters and its already performed 34% better than its predecessor and its only been out 2 weeks. Hell, even adjusting the OG Jumanji's entire take for ticket inflation, it's only down by 35%. It has a real shot of matching, or even passing, it's predecessor. Again, poor excuses. People don't really care about this as much as they say they do. They just want a good movie to go to.
