I think we'll find out the most from how people feel about TLJ when Ep IX debuts. Until then people can make arguments for either "side."
I, for one, hated it. I won't see it again like I did the previous movies. I am not excited one bit for the next one. I'll probably still see it eventually, but I'm not going to read several (any) books, buy video games, comics, etc, like I did after Episode 7. I've just lost all interest.
