To be fair to parodies, I think they could have thought up a better main plot than "we bout run outta gas." Though, I get what you're saying. Some of those scenes did feel straight out of a parody. Or at least a gag reel of the actors messing around, especially the earlier scenes of Luke. 

Throwing the light saber over the shoulder, looking back, was very symbolic of what Rian was doing with the franchise. I mean, looking back, it was the perfect way of him saying "I'm throwing away everything from the previous films and doing whatever I want, if they make sense or otherwise." It was great symbolism, I'll give him that.
