Just wanted to give a quick update on the box office since this is the 2 week mark.
So, just 14 days after release, TLJ sits at $465.7M, which down by $187.3M from TFA's $652M. While I don't have Foreign BO numbers for everyday for TFA, the comparison I do have paints a poor picture. TLJ currently sits at $469.6M in the foreign markets after 14 days. This is actually still down by $76.4M, compared to the $546M TFA made in 10 days. Again, I don't have numbers for every day, so I'll have to update this after the weekend.
Speaking of the weekend, BOM thinks TLJ will pull off $57M, or a decline of just 20%. That seems like a strange call to me, as I think the best it could aim for is the same 40% drop that TLJ pulled off in its 3rd weekend, which would be closer to $43M. We'll see. I mean, I know it is harder to have a much larger drop once you have gotten to lower numbers, but just 20% seems like wishful thinking.
Still, if they are right, that would put the US BO at $521.7, or $220.5M behind the TFA's US BO for the same time. And if it can pull off the same $57M in the foreign markets, that would bring its FBO to $526.6M, or $231.2M behind the TFA. This would make the WW gap $451.7M in just 17 days.
