Motion controls are the core of all VR gameplay. Motion + AR/VR is the future of digital interaction. After experiencing the freedom of playing in AR/VR with motion contorls, going back to the restrictions of traditional displays and controls is claustrophobic.

Eye Toy (AR), Wii Mote (Motion Controls/Gestures + Buttons), Kinect (AR, Stereoscopic Tracking + Voice Commands), Move (Motion + Buttons + AR), and 3D TV (3D) were all building blocks to next generation gaming (the real next gen, not just console to console generations, an actual shift in game design and development). They are no more of a fad than stuff like Pong, Atari, or the Arcades.

VR, however, is not a core component of gaming. While motion controls are the core of all VR gameplay, VR gameplay is still widely niche.

True, AR/VR is still a niche market in the AAA space, but it is growing, and will very likely be the standard once next gen gaming platforms arrive. Motion controls will be at the heart of gameplay in almost all games in the near future, so motion is and was far from a fad.

Stop hate, let others live the life they were given. Everyone has their problems, and no one should have to feel ashamed for the way they were born. Be proud of who you are, encourage others to be proud of themselves. Learn, research, absorb everything around you. Nothing is meaningless, a purpose is placed on everything no matter how you perceive it. Discover how to love, and share that love with everything that you encounter. Help make existence a beautiful thing.
