Success is relative. How well a game sells on an old console as a remake is a bit different from what a new game should sell.
Plus think about Fire Emblem: Awakening needed to sell 250,000 units to not be cancelled. Think about it.
The Democratic Nintendo fan....is that a paradox? I'm fond of one of the more conservative companies in the industry, but I vote Liberally and view myself that way 90% of the time?
