The 360 won't hit 50 million. It is in its 3rd year and didn't even pass 20 million yet.

I doubt that sales will double anytime soon and the Xbox360 won't sell more than 8 million units a year. Assuming that is true ( and I'm being generous) The 360 will hit 50 million in 3 1/2 years, 2012. By that time, the sales will not stay like they are now and will start trailing off anywhere (mid/late) in 09, if they are not slowing down behind the PS3 already. When I say trailing off, I mean:

  • 2008-will be at 23 million at the end (random)
  • 2009-30 million at the end
  • 2010-35.5 million at the end
  • 2011-40 million ATE
  • 2012- 42 million ATE

I think the most the 360 will get is like 37- 42 million at the end of this "generation".
The PS3 probably won't hit 50 million either, and if it does, probably not by much more than 3 million, and that means it'll truly be following that "10-year" plan.

Your prediction is laughable.

Only 23 million at the end of this year? The holiday season alone sells 4 million units, not to speak of the months that remain until Nov.

  1. June
  2. July
  3. August
  4. Sept
  5. Oct

The X360 sold over 3 million in the first 5 months of the year, why would June-Oct be weaker?

So if your 2008 number is already 3 million too low, there's no need to debunk your prediction further.
