I agree with Japan. We all knew that being a handheld would yield results there. But the Switch is toe-to-toe with PS4 in the US and that's where the hypothesis falls apart.

Going toe to toe with the PS4 explains my hypothesis perfectly.  The normal home gamers are buying PS4, while the handheld gamers are buying Switch.  Both are selling well, because they are two different groups of people.
