Have you ever had a stranger buy something for you randomly?

This reads a little awkward. Are you saying the cashier paid for your meal for you and your fiance? 

That’s exactly what I’m saying. He used his own debit card and payed for our meal. 

Edit: I’m guessing the gift card was damaged or his machine was faulty. Don’t really know. But regardless he payed for it. Lol
