It is obvious that no launch will be the same as the other.

There will be regions, stock, price, etc situations that will "skew" the comparison from one launch to another.

Yes, but the PS2 only being available in a single country for 9 months is a pretty huge factor that is very easy to identify. You don't have to dig at all. It's pretty obvious. It's silly to ignore just to be able to say "the PS4 is ahead of the PS2".
