Look at Western Devs. COD/AC/Battlefield/etc is all launched in Q4. Fifa being a Sept release is smart for it, but not having games for holidays (japan in this case) isnt that smart tbh. COD is the biggest seller for the holidays for the ps4 vs SMO/USUM/Splat2/Botw/etc. |
I honestly don't know if it's stupid or not. Sony still by decent holiday sales anyway but they also get a really good q1 and q2 thanks to this tactic.
Stupid or not Sony don't have any ips that will drastically affect sales in the holiday or not.
They are dependant on titles like FFXV , DQ11 , MHW rtf releasing in December if they are to get an unnaturally big holiday bump. There's obviously logic behind MHW and DQ11 not releasing at Christmas.
FFXV released in December because SE were desperate to get it out during the holiday for the west. Nothing to do with Japan.
