Ni No Kuni and Persona 5 both launched at # 1. Tales of Zestria at # 8.

Ni No Kuni and Persona 5 did beat Xenoblade 2, but Tales of Zesteria didn't on two separate platforms. 

You're right though, pretty week considering how much advertising it had. It would have done even better if the advertising wasn't questionable.
