The Switch shows that a portable gaming system which has a video output that can hook up to a TV can sell in Japan. Did we really not know that a portable Nintendo system could sell in Japan?

At a home console pricepoint? No. In fact we have precedence for the fact that it wont do well.

The 3DS did horribly at 50$ less than the Switch in japan and it took a healthy pricecut to even make it viable. That's why you trying your hardest to avoid the word 'hybrid' in order to downplay the Switches home console capabilities, doesn't do anything at all to make the Switches sales less impressive.
