For home consoles? Japan has been becoming irrelevant for years now with consoles declining a lot over the past generations. Even Sony doesn’t make purely Japanese games anymore.

And I’m pretty sure UK sells more games relevant to the western market than Japan in proportion to population size. VGC says 27M games sold in the UK vs 40.5M in Japan in 2016. That game sold per head is already largely in favour of the UK before factoring digital.

Someone beat me to the punch. Japan is still, by far, buying more hardware and software compared to the UK. Besides, both Nintendo and Sony are Japan based companies. That fact alone will always make Japan infinitely more important than the UK.

Sony is a Japanese based company but the game studios are based in the west. The head of Sony Japan Studio is western, the PS4 designer is western. Software sales, on consoles, surely the UK software sales are higher.
