That's a simplified way to look into it. An other branch may bring a small margin of profit or even make a loss but that asset can increase profit in the primary branch. Spidarman the movie can be a financial failure and some would cry that Sony should close the Sony studios but the spiderman license can also be used for gaming that increase profits by a huge margin that makes it worth having their movie branch.
