If however GT7 comes out in a few years (which I think it will), the game (and GT franchise in general) would've been far better received both critically and commercially if GT Sport was called GT 7 Prologue and if it cost $40 at launch and included this new content on disc.

Kaz always stated it’s the new generation of GT and will be heavily upgraded over time. It’s just that people refused to listen (or even read the game’s description).
I don’t think GT7 will happen anymore. Only if the unjustified shit-storm against GT Sport continues and the brand ends up burned. In that case it’s possible GT7 will release early in PS5’s gen, instead of being called GT Sport.
